That's why no two pieces of denim are exactly the same - different washes give each piece its own character, which continues to emerge and develop over the course of wear.
Enzymes Washed
Here, certain enzymes, cellulases, are added during washing. As a result, individual color particles are released from the fabric and a medium to strong abrasion is produced. In addition, denim treated in this way becomes very soft and smooth, as the fabric is de-linting and protruding fibers are decomposed.
Rinse Washed
This wash is the simplest wash used in the treatment of denim. By treating it with water and fabric softener, the clear, bold coloring of the denim is more pronounced. It also makes the fabric feel softer and less shrinky afterwards.
Stone Washed
In the Stone Washed technique, pumice stones are added to the denim during washing to give it a very individual pattern. The abrasion of the stones gives stone washed denim the popular used look and also makes it pleasantly soft. Unlike the addition of enzymes, this technique also rubs off the seams and edges, giving the impression that the fabric has already been worn.
