Borgonovo Glassware – since 1950

In 1950, three visionaries founded a glassworks in the Italian municipality of Borgonovo Val Tidone. The company grew rapidly and steadily, and soon employed 700 staff across 2,000 square metres of factory space. Today, the Borgonovo factory houses two state-of-the-art furnaces capable of processing a total of 170 tonnes of glass per day. This results in an annual production of 45,000 tonnes of glass – that is 130 million glass pieces.

Environmental awareness at Borgonovo

In recent years, Borgonovo Glas has increasingly focused on environmentally conscious production with regard to emissions and consumption. In 2011, the company installed an 8,000-square-metre solar panel system on the roofs of its warehouses. These generate more than 1.1 gigawatt hours per year, all of which is used for the production of Borgonovo glassware.
