Material guide: Outdoor table bases
Not every piece of furniture is suitable for outdoor use: Materials for outdoor furniture must have certain properties to meet the requirements for outdoor use.
Aluminum
Aluminum furniture is lightweight and therefore very easy to transport. At the same time, they are very robust and can also be left outside in the rain, making them ideal for seaside regions.
- Advantages: Weatherproof! Light and stable! Absolutely corrosion-resistant!
- Care instructions: Aluminum furniture does not require any special care. Plain water or a mild alkaline solution together with a soft cloth are perfectly sufficient for cleaning the surfaces.
Steel
Very robust metal that can be coated using various surface processes. For outdoor use, the surface must be galvanized before powder coating. This provides adequate protection against corrosion. There are different quality levels for stainless steel, which are suitable for outdoor use and which are not.
- Advantages: Very stable and durable! Very low-maintenance and easy to clean!
- Care instructions: Clean occasionally with water and mild soap and dry quickly.

Outdoor catering
Design
As soon as the first rays of sunshine arrive and the temperatures become milder, many restaurateurs expand their store space and serve guests outdoors. A few practical aspects should be considered when designing the outdoor area:
- Which substrate for the outdoor area? (e.g. gravel floor or stone terrace)
- What furniture - chairs, benches or bar tables? (e.g. outdoor serving trolley for shorter distances)
- What equipment do you need? (e.g. privacy screens, parasols, heating mushrooms or radiant heaters)

Regulations
Before caterers take their tables and chairs outside, a number of regulations and requirements should be observed. Permits are required for both public and private properties. Find out from us which regulations you need to observe.
Another important part is the Immission Control Act. In the important environmental protection ordinance, the federal government stipulates that immissions and emissions such as noise, air pollution, vibrations and the like must remain within certain limits. Noise protection, air pollution control and light immissions are particularly important for outdoor catering.
