Which concept fits the Greenery Trend?

Demand and "Corporate Design"

The Greenery green is suitable for many gastronomic establishments. The color signals vitality and a new beginning as it is reminiscent of spring buds. The shade symbolizes growth, health and naturalness. Do you serve vegetarian wraps and organic smoothies? Then Greenery is the perfect match for your brand message. But even restaurants that focus on regional, sustainable products can take advantage of the trend. Even large fast food chains have discovered the color green: McDonalds switched its color concept from bright red to a fresh green in 2009 to convey "respect for nature", as a company spokesman said at the time.

Flair

The Greenery effect occurs when the shade of green matches your catering concept and you have selected the right plants: Don't underestimate the symbolic value, because green, flowerless plants convey certain moods and feelings. Cacti, succulents and hemp plants grow in dry, hot regions of the world. Your restaurant will remind you of desert areas with a Greenery equipment of these plants, especially if your lighting has a yellow-golden shimmer. This goes well with a Mexican restaurant, but not with Bavarian cuisine. Ivy and calla are often used in mourning arrangements, which may seem strange to your guests. Classical plants such as the Bubikopf or the fern go well with down-to-earth gastronomy, in the hip Veggie Café these plants seem rather out of place.

Space conditions

Look at your premises critically as you consider whether the Greenery trend should move in to your restaurant and which plants in your bar or café should create a fresh atmosphere: Is there enough room for a flower pot in the passageway or next to table 6? Or is your guest room so spacious that small plants would look rather lost? If you have a narrow bar or a cozy café with large sofas, the greenery should be designed in such a way that the room does not become even narrower. Large, wide rooms are perfect for greenery highlights in corners or on columns.

Before you go to the DIY store and buy lots of potted plants for your little bar, make one thing clear to yourself: Decoration is only beautiful if it is not in the way of anyone. Make sure that the paths of your service personnel are not obstructed by plants. An overhanging fern in a narrow passageway will be particularly annoying to your customers. Do you have many small tables that you would like to decorate with Greenery decoration? Make sure that your guests have enough space to eat and drink. One or the other visitor feels as if he or she is in the tropical jungle when a table decoration that is too high and too opulent towers up between him or her and his or her companion. If you have found a way to harmonise the plant decoration perfectly with your space, then nothing stands in the way of the Greenery concept for your gastro.

Care

Greenery decoration is only suitable for you if you can do justice to the maintenance effort with your staff. Greenery lives mainly from real plants, which, however, also want to be cared for. Even though the interior of restaurants and cafés is made of modest plant species, you and your staff will occasionally have to water the pots and remove some brown leaves. The wide leaves of rubber trees dust very quickly, which means another area to wipe in the room. If you decide to take care of the plants for the sake of a harmonious concept, you should make sure that the plants are easily accessible when you position them, so that the care does not become an additional expense for your employees or yourself.

Our tip

Place large flower pots on a plant roller so that you can easily move the plants when needed without having to carry the heavy pots. Make sure, however, that no guest can slip on the plant roller.

Brightness

Green plants make rooms appear brighter. The Greenery concept is therefore also suitable for places with dark furniture, bars in cellar vaults or hotels with very large rooms and few windows. However, the green is more effective in bright rooms. This only applies, however, if the plant does not swallow the daylight! Large plants should not be placed next to small windows, as this darkens the room. Plants that do not need much light themselves and can therefore be placed in darker corners are particularly suitable for the greenery trend.

Our tip

Pay attention to the light color of your guest room when selecting plants. A green that looks fresh in daylight can look dull from yellowish light. Buy a test plant to avoid unpleasant surprises.
